Yeda Schmaltz lived down the street I was in Ipameri and was granddaughter of the great poet from Ipameri, Demosthenes Cristino, who was dentist and friend of my parents and grandparents. Unfortunately fate would have it, even though we lived two blocks from each other, have never met, unless a glance on rare opportunities.

It was only after her death on May 10, 2003, which occurred in Goiânia (again living in the same city without meeting us), I read one of her poems and found her origins. We live always so close but so far apart, united only by the love of poetry. I hope to become your friend in the next life Yeda!
