The talent does not always come accompanied of so much
education and refinement as happens with my friend and
neighboring Dag França, considered one of the
main painters of the art naif, or primitivist, she is
one of the pleasantest persons than already I knew.
In the words of Jean A. Breslau, of the Jean Jacques
Gallery, "the option by the naif style comes yielding
to Dag França the public recognition and of the
specialized critical". Treats-itself, therefore,
of an artist of great talent and sensibility, that comes
detaching itself in the national and international artistic

Biography |
|
Dagmar
Teixeira França was born in the town of Santa
Cruz de Goiás. Mother of three sons (Sônia
Marise, Anselmo and Carlos), grandmother of six
grandsons (Fabrício, Fernanda, Paula, Carla,
Leonardo and Marcela) and great-grandmother of the
little Sophia, Dag França, as is known in
the artistic environment, resides at present in
Goiânia (Goiás State Brazil) and is,
today, one of the most greatest highlights of the
naif art (primitivist) in Brazil.
The
painter initiated his career as the autodidact,
producing works with subjects of still life, especially
with hydrangeas and sunflowers, that are its favorite
flowers. Later, Dag França frequented the
atelier of the professor Eliezer Ricardo, in Goiânia.
Inside
the simplicity and of the innovation of the naif
art, Dag França portray the Brazilian interior,
with more emphasis to the interior of Goiás
State. The small cities, the june´s bonfires,
the revelries of kings, the parties of the Divine,
processions, ingenuous scenes of the routine, and
all the regional folk manifestations are presents
in the paintings of the artist.
